THIS IS NOT A PAID ADVERTISEMENT. I simply wish to tell you about the Bosch “Silence Plus.” Unlike my previous 3 dishwashers, this one actually works! Details and pictures:
Does “Silence Plus” deserve its title? Yes! If not for the red dot that shines the kitchen floor, you’d never know the machine was running.
Bosch has wisely placed the control panel on the top of the door. Hidden this way, the buttons can not be accidentally pressed.
Speaking of buttons…after a recent dinner party, I stuffed the machine with dirty stemware (champagne flutes and wine goblets), and selected the “Speed” function. One hour later, the glassware glistened. For very dirty dishes, I routinely use the machine’s 2-hour (default) “Auto” cycle. As the hot water evaporates, the dishes dry themselves.
I have not used the other cleaning options on the Silence Plus. “Auto” works like a charm.
And here is a glimpse of the bottom rack. I often remove the cutlery basket to make room for my Dutch ovens and other large pots and pans.
When I’m faced with lots of dirty dishes — meaning more than those pictured above — I simply tuck small objects beneath large. On the “Auto” cycle, even the most tightly-packed dishes come clean.
To my surprise, the “V”-shaped top rack is a dream. I use it for pastry brushes and spatulas…
And tongs and prep bowls…
And a shocking amount of forks, spoons, and knives.
In case you’re wondering, Bosch recommends this detergent…
And this rinsing-aid.
Now, since I’m a recipe-developer as well as a food blogger/vlogger, I probably dirty more dishes per day than the average household. In two months of heavy use (twice a day most days), the Bosch Silence Plus has not let me down.
Would I recommend this same dishwasher to you? Absolutely not! I have not lived with Bosch long enough to sufficiently evaluate it. I will, however, recommend that whatever appliance you buy, that you also buy an extended warranty for it. I did just that when I purchased, from Lowe’s, my previous dishwasher. Consequently, Lowe’s charged me only the price difference between my no-good KitchenAid and the great-so-far Bosch: $200.
Are my occasional appliance reviews helpful to you? Talk to me in the comments field below.
Tressa Rhodes says
All of your reviews are helpful. I have bought several kitchen items based on your reviews and have never been disappointed.
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Tressa – Music to my ears.
Brenda Johnson says
Good to know! Dishwasher is on our list of needs replacing SOON!!
Susan says
I was wondering the measurements of your dishwasher. Would appreciate any information. We’re in the need of a new one but needs to be apartment size. Yours looks wonderful!
Diane says
I have had a Bosche for several years now and love it!! Especially that top (3rd) rack. Mine is so quiet l have to tape a note on it that says “running”…….otherwise someone opens it and interrupts the cycle!
jr says
do you mean for the extended warranty for the bosch they just charged you $200?
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Susan – Manual says the machine is common dishwasher size: 24 inches.
Hi jr – Lowe’s gave me full credit my previous dishwasher. Since the Bosch cost $200 more than my old machine, I had only to pay the difference, which was $200. Mercifully Lowe’s also transferred my extended 3-year warranty to the Bosch, at no extra cost. (Hope this answered your question!)
Kelli says
I have a Bosch dishwasher and it works amazingly well – going on 4 years now. My one and only complaint is the incessant beep when the dishes are clean. I’m like, okay, dishwasher, I was getting to it! Stop nagging! 🙂
Arlene says
I also have a Bosch dishwasher. It does everything you mentioned and it is one of my best purchases. Thanks for sharing your update.
Edie says
Hi Kevin! I always appreciate your reviews….based on how you use the machine…twice a day! I didn’t think of using the top rack for loads of flatware! We have not replaced ours yet and was wondering what went wrong with the one you purchased in October?
NancyNurse says
I’m sorry….I guess I missed whatever happened with your Kitchenaid dishwasher! I guess I have to do a search to see what happened.
I have a Bosch, quite similar to yours, and I absolutely love it. Amazing that it does not have a dryer element yet everything dries as well as with a DW that has that element but none of your plastic stuff turns into alien beings. So quiet…it’s running now with a subtle occasional whooosh and that little red light shining on the kitchen floor.
Three cheers for the Lowe’s extended warranties, too. If possible, we get all our appliances from Lowe’s and always get the amazingly inexpensive extended warranties. We have had to use them for our washing machine and fridge so far. With the washer, they declared it unfixable and refunded our entire purchase price. When we bought another washer from them they deleted the delivery charge and applied the extended warranty to the new purchase. Fabulous customer service!
Wishing you all the best with your new DW!
Cat says
I’m following this b/c we need a new dishwasher! My situation is hard water that corroded my last one. So I’ve been thinking Miele for the water softening system, but talk about $$$. Big ka-ching! I
Kate says
I have a low-end Bosch that I hate and am thinking about replacing. I’m interested in your problems with the KitchenAid you had, as that was what I was considering replacing it with! Much appreciated.
Christy says
We have a 2.5 year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher which is a big disappointment—it doesn’t get the dishes completely clean. We thought maybe we were doing something wrong (it was our first dishwasher, having moved to Dutchess from NYC) but now I wonder if it is the brand itself. What issues were you having with your Kitchen Aid?
Linde says
I’ve had the same machine for about a year now. My previous dishwasher was a Bosch that only lasted 2 years before it went belly up. Seriously annoyed. It was a starter model and on sale. Decided to up the program and purchased this beauty! I’m very happy with it. Clean dishes, and whisper quiet. I also love the top shelf. I will put my knives up there (well, NOT the Japanese knives, LOL) and they stay in place and don’t bang into anything to get dull.
Franceen Elias-Stein says
Thank you, Kevin for your dishwasher review. I am hoping to redo my kitchen in the next year and will definitely be needing a new dishwasher. This was so helpful.
Susi Byers says
I definitely can recommend. We love our Bosch, as do all the people on FaceBook who recommended it to us. That third tray on top was the deal breaker, and the dishes just sparkle. ❤️❤️❤️
Linda says
I have had a Bosch dishwasher for nearly 10 years and it looks and performs as well as it did the first day. I absolutely love how quiet it is and that it does a great job on cleaning the dishes. It wasn’t a brand I was familiar with when purchased, but had been strongly recommended. Its been great!
Jon says
Good to hear you love this one so far! Time will always tell of course.
We went with a LG and I don’t care for it at all. I was looking at the Kitchen Aid, nice of you to say nice things about yours
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Edie, NancyNurse, and Kate — My KitchenAid worked well for about a month. Then it just…stopped cleaning.
Hi Cat — I’ve heard great things about Miele.
Beverly, zone 6, eastern PA says
Just before sitting in this computer chair I loaded my Bosch DW with utensils in the v-shaped third drawer. It was an eye-popping coincidence to open up your article and see a nearly identical image!
Our mid-level rotating spray arm has fallen off twice, landing on dishes below luckily without breakage. We believe this may have been because of something too tall that blocked its normal rotation and caused it to unwind itself off its bolt. We were able to reconnect it. Now we always test the arm’s ability to turn freely before we start a cycle.
We are having trouble getting the middle drawer to lock into the water source at the back, a prerequisite to closing and running the DW. We are contorting ourselves to see and reach the problem area in order to get the cycle going. I prefer using a long spatula to press up the little doobie, allowing the drawer’s protrusion to make full contact with the water source opening. But I’d truly prefer not having to do anything to facilitate this connection.
We had to put salt in the reservoir since we do not have a water softener. We go through the rinse aid bottles at a fast clip – $$$$. (I secretly wish to concoct my own rinse aid.)
Our DW was the Bosch “Special Application” model, here now for 32 months now. $900+
It IS extremely quiet.
JC39 says
I bought the 18″ wide Bosch for our condo in May (Lowe’s) and so far I love it. The two racks are much like yours and it also has the 3rd rack (great!). There are just two of us so I run the half load more often than the full load and the dishes sparkle! I was concerned about the lack of a heat element for drying but the dishes always come out perfectly dry (except for plastic, which is problematic in any dishwasher).
Also, for those with hard water issues, there is a receptacle for special “dishwasher salt” to soften hard water (haven’t used it). Great installation experience, also.
Look for sales! I was able to get an installation rebate during a special promotion.
Important note: since dishwashers can cause a fire, we don’t run it when we are not home -and awake. (Same precaution with the clothes dryer.)
Lori says
I dread the day my dishwasher dies. This appliance has gone thru 5 teenagers and not only done many loads of dishes for the past 17 but also countless and continuous loads of sanitizing canning jars. Its lived thru our hard water years, with vinegar rinses to finally soft water. It’s quiet too, not super quiet, but enough to let me know it’s running. And against my hubbys wishes, I bought the floor model bc the price was right. (Ok, for jinxing myself, knock on wood).
Michelle L says
Hello Kevin!
I have your exact same dishwasher for a few years now and love every part of it. Also got it from my local Lowes. I removed the utensils holder basket and only use the very top rack to hold all my utensils, knives, etc. First month, we’ve had to put our ears to the machine to make sure it was running. The light helps a lot. The best part is, I live that the bottom has a basket to remove and rinse out all the food bits so it doesn’t clog the filter.
Maraya says
Kevin, I purchased a KitchenAid based upon your original choice. There was a terrific sale on the quietest one – 39 db – with the bar handle (KDTE334GPS). The interior looks just like your Bosch. It’s so quiet, I don’t even know it’s running. The dishes have been spotless using the recommended Cascade Platinum tabs and rinse aid. Even the plastics come out dry unless they have a place on top that catches water. It’s been almost a month now, and it’s working beautifully. My purchase was from Best Buy, and I also bought an extended warranty. I hope have better luck than you did.
Linda Stone says
My beloved Bosch dishwasher is 12 years old and going strong–no problems ever and does a great job
Patti says
Your comments are interesting, as I have a Bosch (3 years old) and am not impressed. Yes, it is quiet. Beyond that I would probably not buy again. It did have a recall as electronics were causing fires, but I was not notified by Bosch but by another person who owns a Bosch. When I called to schedule the needed repair I was told they couldn’t handle the vast number of calls, should call in a few weeks, and btw don’t use the dishwasher. This was Thanksgiving of 2017. Dishwasher was repaired this spring.
Marcia says
Yes, keep those reviews coming. Also on the little kitchen items, the ones I can afford.
Ronnie says
Enjoy your appliance reviews. Do not believe in buying extended warranties, however.
Thank you,
Ronnie
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Maraya – I think KitchenAid makes fine dishwashers. My particular model was just “a lemon in the bunch!”
patrice says
Thanks Kevin, I’m facing purchasing all new kitchen appliances and based on your experience, I think this may be my dishwasher choice. Any recommendations for a fridge and stove??? Thanks
Georgeanna says
Thanks for your dishwasher advice. Never would get extended warranty because it seemed expensive, but the way they make appliances today you need it. Love all your stories and recepices.
Bev says
Kevin.., I do appreciate your blog not being driven by sponsorship. It seems more and more other blogs are. They have turned into paid advertisements about often times irrevelant topics. It is evident they are reviewing products for the perks they will be awarded for doing it. Your blog comes from your heart and love of things, thank you.., thank you!!!!
Lana Brooks says
Thank you for the Bosch dishwasher review. I will be in the market soon for one and I am taking this into consideration. I love that you showed us all the ways you stack dishes and utensils. A quiet dishwasher is a must in our condo as everything is open. I remember an apartment where you could not hear the tv or computer without earphones when the dishwasher was running.
Mary Post says
My Bosch is 25yrs old and we still like it. Yours looks so nice and new.
Thanks for sharing.
Jenn says
I have mid-range GE that I love after three DWs that worked well for 6-12 months and then needed constant fixing to keep them from spraying dirty water on the dishes. I swore I wouldn’t pay a lot after being burned with two fancy brands. My GE has been going strong for 18 months. I love that I can remove and clean the filter myself.
The third top rack is the best thing ever! It really adds so much space by allowing you to put utensils up there and remove the basket on the bottom.
Mary V says
Love your appliance reviews! I’ll be needing a new dishwasher soon so I will keep Bosch in mind!
Julie R says
First, that looks like an awesome dishwasher, from your description of it, Kevin. I like that the buttons are hidden away and the fact that it actually cleans the dishes even when you stack them up top of each other, and the quiet feature is great too.
And second, I do find your appliance reviews very helpful. I always enjoy reading everyone’s comments and find lots of great info that way too. By the way, I still did not replace my old dishwasher. Still washing dishes by hand.
JAnis says
All my appliances from my 2000 kitchen reno are still working beautifully. They are all KitchenAid Superba. I don’t know if I happen to have lucked out or what but they have been flawless. The built-in fridge looks like it was born yesterday. Sleek and contemporary. The dishwasher still runs in such blissful silence so you have to watch for the light on the front to know it is operating. Dishes comes out squeaky clean and spotless.
My sister remodeled her kitchen recently and has the same model Bosch dishwasher as yours and is so happy with it too. Appliances are workhorses and we spend $$$ on them. They should give us many many years of perfect service. Here is to the best of luck with yours!
Brenda Lewis says
Love my own Bosch too…glad you were able to enjoy the cleaning process once again!
Connie from VT says
I love my KitchenAid dishwasher; no problems except with a small latch on the top shelf (must pull it out towards the other side or the shelf will fall). We bought it 9 years ago when remodeling our 1900 Victorian farm house. The KitchenAid freestanding oven has been another story; we’ve replaced the starter for the broiler 3 times and it won’t hold even temps for both ovens if they are used at same time. (Hello-what’s the point of double ovens??) I’ve never used the cleaning cycle because of several reviews saying that the entire oven quit working after using the cleaning cycle. ( I’m tempted too, just so I can replace the thing!)
We had. Bosch dishwasher 3 houses ago and loved it.
One question: are those silver plate forks and spoons, or stainless steel?
Elizabeth says
Very helpful. Authentic and so useful when I go shopping. My favorite local kitchen and appliance shops are on to you too.
Julie says
In my next house, ALL my kitchen appliances will be Bosch. I had a Kitchenaid, and was almost glad when I had to replace it.
I’m so tired of kitchen applicances with pieces which break off, or electronic controls which fail.
Ellie says
After 13+ years my Bosch is sick and we need to have someone check it out. I have loved this machine and hope that a simple fix will do. If not, I will be looking for another Bosch. We do need a special model, however, because we have a wood cabinet front on this one (dishwasher is hidden) and I’d like to keep it that way. Other than this problem we had one simple issue about 5 years ago that was fixed quickly and inexpensively. I use my dishwasher about every day (only two of us now) and I would not be without one.
Sharon A. Shade says
I had a Bosch but different model – one with a basket instead of cutlery tray. Hated it for that reason. Also I found that the lettering over the controls wore off really quickly. In researching it I found a lot of people complained about it and it was a very difficult issue to address. Hope they have corrected that issue and you’ll be happy with yours. I ended up buying a Meile with a cutlery tray which is what I had at my house in Florida. Very happy with it because the lettering does not have to be touched in order to select the cycle.
Amy Dolego says
Good for you! Looks great and glad to know it works well.
I bought 2 dishwashers this year, 1 for my rental house and 1 for me. I put in a Fisher Paykel 2-drawer dishwasher for the rental house when the original one failed after 14 yrs. Love the 2-drawer FP dishwashers because you can run them independently – my favorite dishwasher.
For me, I bought a Kitchen Aid (didn’t want to spend as much as the FP) and I absolutely love the way it cleans – never have to use anything but the express 1-hour cycle and it’s so silent, I have to put my ear to it to hear it running. I have the V-rack, too. Also the top rack is adjustable – up and down. I would have bought the Bosch, but I brought some dishes and stemware to the store and they didn’t fit as well as they did in the Kitchen Aid.
Susan Ager says
We’ve had ours for almost 3 years and still bless it every day! Love that red light. Love the variety of settings. Love that top rack for small things, including jar lids. Bosch is the best!
Emma says
We are now dishwasher twins!! So happy you like it. I’ve had mine about a year with moderate use (it runs maybe 5x/week) and we have been very pleased with it.
lynn says
review away….I trust you and love your recipes!
Nancy Nikora says
I remember you asking for recommendations on a dishwasher a couple years ago, and was surprised when you picked the Kitchen Aid over the Bosch. We are 20 year plus Bosch owners and never have been disappointed. I do like how you reconfigured your silverware basket. It’s the only thing I am less happy with than in our previous Millenium model. Hope you love the new machine.
Georgeann Brown says
Love our Bosch, especially the 3rd rack. Now I never worry about sticking myself with a fork tine in those stupid cutlery baskets.
Kathy E says
Kev, I have a Bosch as well, although mine is 5 years old and does not have some of your features. I can attest to is cleaning capability and to how quiet it is. I can be standing next to it and not know its running. We have an open floor plan in our home so quiet running was/is very important. I hight recommend this dishwasher for anyone needing this feature.
I also appreciate the 9 minute “rinse” cycle for those times when you do not have a load to run but you have something like fish for dinner.
P.S. I made the Cheesy Gratin of Eggs and Veggies for brunch this week and it was superb. I also ordered the Moeller Onion Slicer and I am sold on that too. Thanks.
Anne says
My Bosch is 14+ and when it goes, I will definitely get another. Love your helpful appliance reviews.
Kay says
Cool! I have a similar Bosch. Instead of the speed 60 cycle, I have an Express cycle that takes 40 mins. I use it instead of Normal. 2 hours for a cycle?! Who has time for that? I also love how quiet it is and distain the “beeping” at cycle’s end. Also I really miss the grinder. I dislike having to rinse the dishes so much. Seems like a waste of water. But if I don’t, I end up with residue on the clean dishes. Still, I do like mine. It has great reviews online.
Mary Beth says
Yes Kevin, I read and love all of your reviews and have brought several things because of your reviews. I love your reviews because they are… down home and very honest……. so keep them coming. They are helpful.
Karen at Country Gardens of Oley Valley says
had a Bosch years ago and loved it. but then we moved and it stayed and I miss it.
Margaret says
Love my Bosch! It is the same model . Dishes are clean and it’s so quiet I forget it’s working. Yes with the 2 hour wash the dishes finish dry. I love the adjustable racks. When my old dishwasher stopped working, I checked all the reviews and found Bosch was the answer. I use the 3rd rack more than I thought I would. It’s great for things with long handles.
Marsha Lockhart says
If my trusty Maytag appliances of 15 years, ever bite the dust, I’d would take into consideration any equipment you write about. I can tell you, I love the Hori garden knife/digger that you recommended. From appliances to weeds; I learn something knew every week. Thanks so much.
Mary Ross says
Like I tell everyone, my 3 year old Bosch is the only dishwasher I’ve ever owned that actually washes the dishes. Plus it rejuvenated all my glasswarethat had turned cloudy from previous dishwashers.
Cyn Ka says
I love my Bosch.
I’ve had a Bosch dishwasher for years and years. I have to put my ear to it to hear it. It has always cleaned everything perfectly. To this day it looks brand new, inside and out. Never a minutes problem. vin
Mine doesn’t have that very cool top tray your’s does Kevin. I’d love that.
Kristin says
We have had a Bosch for several years, and it is my favorite dishwasher ever, for the reasons you listed. I love that third rack. I hope both of our Boschs continue to serve us well for years!
Jane says
Your reviews are so helpful! I am in need of a new dishwasher, but when I looked on the Lowes website all of the Bosch dishwashers had series numbers (300 level, 800 level, etc.) and also decibel levels. Could you please share the series numbers of your dishwasher? Thanks so much!
vanessa valery says
what about the peanut butter spoon??? did it get clean
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Jane — My paperwork from Lowe’s says “Bosch 500 Series.”
pennfer says
We are now on our second Bosch, the current one bearing a strong resemblance to this one, but 2014 vintage. We love them for all the reasons you name.
Margaret Califano says
I have a Bosch and I love it. They’re incredibly quiet compared to my old Whirlpool. That sounded like a cement mixer when it was running
Trish says
I am also in the market for a dishwasher but I can only find 800- or 900 series, or model numbers. If yours has a “series” number or the model number you could give me , it would be appreciated. I look forward every week to receiving your blog.
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Trish – Here’s the model: https://goo.gl/ckwLdG
Marcia Colby Truslow says
Recently bought a mid-range Kitchen Aid after reading over your previous request for recommendations. It has the top level tray similar to yours and is so quiet I never know it is running. Problem is — dishes are always wet when cycle is finished. I suggested to my son that we get a Rinse Aid, which he has always been opposed to but now I have written proof from the above article that it works. I also have hard well water which I am sure contributes to the problem.
We used to use pods but they created this horrible brown coating all over the inside of the dishwasher (plastic interior), which, I was told was caused by the pods reacting to the hard water. Actually that is the reason for purchasing the new machine which is stainless inside and out.
I really enjoy your articles especially when they involve appliance recommendations. Thanks for all the information from you and readers alike!
Barbara Sloan says
Thanks for the demo of your new Bosch DW. I’ll remember that before my next DW.
Jay says
A new dishwasher is in the cards for our kitchen, but we can’t figure out what would work best for us. I was thinking of a dish-drawer washer, which seems practical for a two-person household, but there’s only one maker as far as I can tell: Fisher-Paykel, and they are very pricey. I’m glad to see your experience with the Bosch has been good and that so many others have enjoyed theirs, too. When the current washer dies, we’ll have to see what the budget can bear!
Louise says
I have a slightly older Bausch. Love it. Hidden controls but no 3rd rack. That looks cool indeed. Thanks for your review. I doubt I will buy one soon, but you never know.
Raina says
I’ve had a mid-range Bosch DW for about a year, and I’m not impressed with it. I have to set it on the “heavy” soil cycle to get most of the dishes clean, and even then some have to be hand washed afterwards. Even on the “extra dry and sanitize” settings with the highest rinse aid setting, the dishes are no where near dry. Items on the 3rd rack don’t get clean unless they weren’t really soiled to begin with. It doesn’t hold as many dishes as my previous Maytag (which died after 2 yrs), which isn’t a big issue because we don’t fill it every day. It is relatively quiet, but not such that I can run it overnight without the noise bothering my husband. I don’t know if I just got a lemon or if the mid-range ones are just that much worse than the higher end ones.
Marilyn says
I haven’t bought any major appliances based on your recommendations but I did buy — speaking of “dish washing” — My Favorite Nylon Pan Scraper which I ordered from Amazon and absolutely love. Not sure how I lived without this little tool for when something sticks to the bottom of a cooking pot or pan. Gets rid of the gunk and doesn’t scratch the surface. Who knew this little tool existed before you mentioned it? So, thanks for that!
It’s fun to hear about your new dishwasher, so glad you’re happy with it.
Teal says
We bought a Bosch SilencePlus 44 dBA (800 series, I think) about 3 years ago and I love it. (Our previous Frigidaire was horrible!) The Bosch is so quiet that it lives up to its name and has that 3rd rack that is so handy. I hope you continue to enjoy yours for many years.
Rich Herm says
Kevin,
Love your site and reports.. Recipes, Yummo !
I have my 2nd Kitchen Aid , it and the old one (moved) 10 yrs ago, 1st was about 16 yrs old and both work fine. Used 1-2 Xs a week. I keep adding dishes, etc till full and even tho they get dried on food, they always come out clean and mostly dry.
I do like the 3rd top tray so will consider the Bosch next time. Let’s face it, most of the good brands work for most moderate users. Keep those reports coming. Thanks. FM; Lakewood, Colo, 1st town W o’ Denver.
Lucinda Abbott says
We recently bought a similar model to replace our 20 + year old Bosch, and I can’t get over two things: the top rack for silverware (I finally put the silverware basket down in the basement because we always use that delightful top rack) and it is SO QUIET! You have to stand next to the thing and actually put your ear about two inches away to make sure it is actually running! A real winner!
Roseann Hanson says
Hi Kevin! I love your blog; thank you for sharing your recipes and gardening and home tips (very smart to send that Sunday email, it’s the perfect reminder to relax and catch up on enjoyable pastimes!). On your recommendation my husband and I bought the same Bosche dishwasher and could not be happier—I’ve never had a nice dishwasher (except of course my original dishwasher—my husband, who is a little concerned I’ve replaced him with a shiny German model) and it’s a treat after several cheap ones that came with properties we have bought. They always just baked on food rather than cleaned them. After using it for a month, with the Bosche I would highly recommend, as you say, using the detergent and rinse-aid the company recommends. We ran out and used a cheap liquid brand and it just didn’t do as nice a job. Also pay attention to the hard-water settings and one gets much better results. Thank you for the great review!
Clare Walter says
Came across your review and wanted to follow up-did you end up having smell issues with your Bosch dishwasher? I have tried all the vinegar and baking soda suggestions, but I think it might have something to do with water pooling in the drain, but I don’t know how I can stop that.
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Clare – I’ve used this Bosch daily (and sometimes twice daily) for 2 years now, and still love it. No smell issues whatsoever.
christine says
Hi Kevin –
I cannot figure out how to use the other cycles – When I press start and want something other than auto it doesn’t seem to take the setting and only the auto light stays on.
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Christine – Hold the “start” button down for 3 seconds. This will clear the “auto” cycle.
Linda says
So what are we doing wrong? I got this dishwasher and HATE it! The dishes never are never dry. I keep it on auto and wait for the red light to go off and the dishes are always wet. Tonight the water had not yet drained.
My old basic Kenmore or GE or whatever worked great till it died. It had a drain cycle for when you opened it too early.
I’d love to understand how to get this to run properly, and yes, we added the finishing rinse which seems like a great money making arrangement between Bosch and Finish. Not something that should actually be needed.
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Linda – I had the “wet dishes” problem too. Then one of my readers told me the secret: Keep the door closed for at least 1 hour after the red light goes off. Voila — dry dishes! I do have to towel dry any plastic storage containers. But everything else — glassware, cookware, cutlery, etc. — is bone dry.
Karla Keyllian says
I’ve had mine for YEARS! I love it. I’m planning to remodel my kitchen and my dishwasher is the only appliance I’m keeping. I put dirty Pyrex that I cooked pasta in and guess what?? Cleans it!! Large capacity. Highly recommend.
KyTom says
Are you still liking your Bosch dishwasher
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi KyTom – Yes. So far no troubles with this Bosch.
KYTOM says
Hi Kevin,
I’m going out to buy a new dishwasher today. My oud one broke and I am done with washing dishes in the sink. lol
Cheryl says
I have one of these. Not sure if it’s the same model, but that top tray looks like mine. Isn’t that one of the nicest things about the quiet dish washer? So happy with mine. I just have to find a way of keeping the dogs from pre-washing the dishes while I’m loading them!
Kevin Lee Jacobs says
Hi Cheryl – My dog does the same thing here: licks the sides of plates and bowls while I’m loading the dishwasher!
Lois Watford says
Enjoyed your article. We have the same Bosch Dishwasher you have. I was wondering if you rinse your dishes before loading? I just read an article saying not to. We do rinse and think it’s good to. My husband says our Bosche doesn’t have the sensor that checks the amount of dirt particles in the water. What do you think?
