The Backyard Parables: Winners Announced

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | January 19, 2013 8 Comments

I’D LIKE TO THANK ALL 599 OF YOU who entered my latest giveaway: a copy of Margaret Roach’s new memoir, The Backyard Parables. How I loved reading about the spring flowers you are eager to see! Here are the three winning comment numbers, all chosen by Random (dot) org:

#501, from Dana H. : “I love to see my brite & happy primrose…makes me smile!”

#23, from Robert M. : “Each year it’s always the Hyacinth. More so this year as, for the first time ever, I’m attempting to “force” bulbs…”

#105, from Marney: “Looking forward to abeliophylum – the smell of it, mostly… like heaven…”

Congratulations, Dana, Robert, and Marney. Check your inbox for an email from me!

I missed the contest, but will surely look for Margaret’s book at my local book seller’s. I look forward to the appearance in Spring of my all-time favorite, the daffodil. It is the flower for March, my birth month; perhaps that’s why I’ve always loved it. In general, yellow is not my favorite color, but I certainly love the way it looks on the daff. I have a strip of garden all the way down my driveway which is planted with daffodil bulbs and when they all bloom in the Spring it’s a sight to see! My neighbor says she knows Spring has really arrived when she sees them! Ah, Spring…the temperature is in the low teens right now here in Michigan!
