Puff Pastry with Jam and Brie has is one of my “signature” appetizers for cocktail parties. You can make this savory-sweet beauty in no time at all. Almost any jam will do the trick here — I usually rely on fig, apricot, or strawberry. And you can swap the Brie for some other creamy cheese, such as Camembert. Here’s the recipe:

Puff Pastry with Jam and Brie

A savory-sweet appetizer that is beloved at cocktail parties. It is extremely easy to make.
Prep Time5 minutes mins
Cook Time20 minutes mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry dough, thawed but still cold
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 3 or 4 slices of brie -- each about 1/2-inch thick
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • A handful of sliced almonds

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unfold the puff pastry to reveal its three "panels." Spread the jam on the center panel. Top the jam with the slices of Brie (you can leave a gap between each slice).
  • Use a knife to make one-inch-wide slits along the outer two panels. Fold these strips over the jam and cheese. Brush the top with the beaten egg, and sprinkle on the sliced almonds. (If not baking right away, cover and refrigerate for several hours.)
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese turns melty and the pastry puffs and browns -- 20 to 25 minutes, depending on your oven. Allow the pastry to cool slightly before slicing it crosswise into 8 servings.

I am no longer getting your emails either.

Looking forward to making this appetizer. So simple and I like the idea of fig jam, yummy!

This was excellent! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! So quick and easy. Looks impressive and it was eaten immediately at the party!

Used a 77% fruit apricot jam and Gruyère. On a whim, decided to sprinkle the top with a leftover mixture of cinnamon, sugar and flaked almonds (leftover from making jodekager – danish Christmas cookies).
