My New, Favorite Groundcover

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | February 3, 2011 5 Comments

WHAT’S THE BEST GROUNDCOVER IN THE WORLD? Snow, or Freezus coldus. Here in the Northeast, it thrives in both sun and shade. It’s drought-tolerant, too. And unlike pachysandra and vinca minor, snow’s dense, matting habit is 100% effective at keeping weeds down. If you don’t already have this winter-hardy covering in your yard, just drop me a note. I’d be more than happy to send you some of mine.

Of course, if you’d prefer your groundcover green, not white, you’d better stick to one of these tried and true beauties. I know Lily the Beagle enjoy vinca, especially when it’s in bloom.

What a great picture. But I think you need even more “Freezus coldus”.

Thanks for the offer but I have all I can handle. Personally, I prefer a ground cover that doesn't need shoveling.

Well, maybe someone in Cancun will accept my offer. But then the shipping charge might be on the lofty side.
