My Gardens…and a soundtrack

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | March 15, 2015 46 Comments

Last updated on March 18th, 2015

Yesterday, while snooping around Google, I discovered a photo-film of my gardens. What a pleasant surprise! The work was posted on Youtube by Joseph Cooper. I do not know Mr. Cooper, but apparently he and his camera attended one of the Garden Conservancy tours here last summer. Have a look:

(To play the film, just click the arrow)

I’m so glad that Joseph Cooper captured his time here — and gave it a soundtrack! My only question: Why Billy Joel, and not Lady Gaga?

Hi Kevin, It was my pleasure to produce the video, and Thank You for opening your gardens to the public! I thought the music fit the flow of the video, so that’s why it was used. However, if you really like Lady Gaga, copy this link into your browser: https://youtu.be/UEpD9DojLY4
….I used her sound track in producing the Hudson Valley Chalk Festival video 🙂
Wishing you a Bountiful Garden! -Joseph

Hi Joseph – Thank you for doing this video and others. Loved the neat-o chalk festival! I also love the Joel piano-solo track. Maybe you’ll return for another shoot. You’re certainly welcome here!

LOVE the video! The gardens around your home are so beautiful! Obviously you have a designer’s eye for both indoor and outdoor projects. I’m sure the original owners would be proud to see how you are caring for the home they built and lived in so long.
About the song on the video: The music IS beautiful, and I definitely agree with Joseph that it “fits the flow of the video”, but I assumed he chose that song “She’s always a woman”, because of your garden sculptures that he prominently features in the video.

What are the chances of you finding this lovely tribute, not knowing about it ?
An amazing and inspirational piece of film.
I caught some views and angles you don’t normally portray in your own photos. The video gave me a better sense of the proximity of features all over your garden. My favorite shot was from inside the vine covered hideaway, looking out.

Having 6″ of fresh, new snow since 8am this morning (and it’s still snowing!) is thoroughly depressing, but your gardens cheered me up. Glorious!

Kevin, the video made me realize that without the harshness of winter, we would not have the beauty of Spring. Just when I was wishing for the desert of Arizona! Now I am re-thinking my relocation plans…

    Come on spring thaw!

    Kevin,
This is glorious…your gardens are so inviting and the music matches the peaceful “walk” around and through them. I just imaged sitting in the woods, reading a good book and listening to birds singing and the breezes rustling the leaves in the trees above me. This video is definitely one to keep when I need a few stress-down moments. Thank you, Kevin, for this gorgeous garden, and thank you, Mr. Cooper, for your exquisite video that captured the garden’s magic.

Your garden is delightful and so not what I’m used to here in Southern Calif. I am a docent at an amazing garden here in Santa Barbara. Have you ever heard of Lotusland? I think you would love it. It’s a 37 acre estate (25 acres in 17 different garden areas). The owner, Madame Ganna Walska set up a foundation so it could be open to the public after she died in 1984. Check out the website: lotusland.org and if you ever get to Santa Barbara I’ll take you on a tour. It’s like no garden I’ve ever seen or heard about.
