Kevin’s 2012 Events Schedule

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | January 18, 2012 10 Comments

Last updated on February 18th, 2013

MY EVENTS SCHEDULE for 2012 is slowly filling up, with three lectures, three  garden tours (to benefit The Garden Conservancy), plus one  hands-on plant-propagation workshop.  Live in or around New York’s Hudson Valley? Stop by and say hello!  The events:

Note: If you’d like me to speak to your garden club or other horticultural society, you can reach me by leaving a comment anywhere on this site. Or, just  send me an email.

Thursday, February 2 – Helderview Garden Club. (518-765-5632).  Albany, New York.  Topic: “Winter Sowing 101” (lecture and demonstration).

Saturday, March 10 – Spring Garden Day,  Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County. (518) 272-4210. This wildly popular, all-day event in Troy, NY, offers a variety of horticultural classes, including the one I’m teaching: “The Easy Kitchen Garden.” Call for information and tickets.

Saturday, April 14 – Garden Day, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County. (845) 340-3990. The theme of this event is “Flower Power.” I’ll be talking about the most beloved flower in the world – – The Rose. And specifically, how to design a low-maintenance rose garden, and  how to make its occupants thrive. Call for information and tickets.

Wednesday, June 6 – Private Tour, Lake George Garden Club 10:30 AM – 12:30 pm

Sunday, June 10 – Open Days, The Garden Conservancy. My garden will be open from 10:00AM – 4:00PM. Come see the Rose Garden, the Herb Garden, the Serpentine Garden, the Pool Garden, the Kitchen Garden, and the Woodland Garden. At this time in the season, almost everything will be in bloom.   Contact gardenconservancy.org for tickets.

Saturday, June 16 – Garden Tour/Plant-Propagation Workshop. 10:00AM – 12:00PM. $35.00 covers workshop  plus yummy refreshments. Workshop is limited to 25 people. Contact me to register and receive directions. NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. I’ll reschedule for some time in the future.

Saturday, June 23 – Open Days, the Garden Conservancy. 10 -4. If you missed the June 10 tour, here’s your other early-summer chance to share gossip with all kinds of plants, including those in my Herb Garden, above.

Tuesday, June 26 – Private Tour, Sandview Lake Garden Club. 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Saturday, August 18 – Open Days, the Garden Conservancy. 10-4. At this time, the Kitchen Garden and Herb Garden will be in full swing, while the Serpentine Garden and Woodland Garden will be at their height of beauty. As before, contact gardenconservancy.org for tickets.

As I’ve observed the transformation of a parking lot into a magnificent rose garden, I’m ready for every tour you’re offering to see the changes of your plantings in every season. Bring on SPRING !!!!!!!

I’m going to try to make one of your talks… would kill to see your garden… I’m out on the North Fork… but I worked at the Mohonk Mountain House back in the day…. would be great to visit the valley! Connie – Here is the information you are looking for: http://www.gardenconservancy.org/opendays/faq

In a nutshell, you can just show up, and pay a $5 fee to the Garden Conservancy. No reservations required. You can buy tickets in advance, but you don’t have to.
