THIS WEEK, because the weather is better…because I can now turn my oven on without fear of fainting…and because my spouse and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary…I’m giving away a 7-cup Cuisinart Food Processor!
I rely on my own Cuisinart in the same way that Mrs Patmore (of Downton Abbey) relies on Daisy.Β In the past 4 days alone, the machine accomplished the following prep-jobs for me (click high-lighted text to see recipes):
It quickly shredded the squash for these crisp and delicious Zucchini Fritters…
It finely-chopped the meat for this scrumptious, nutmeg-scented Timbale of Spinach and Ham…
Without complaint, it crumbed the bread, grated the cheese, and sliced the fennel and onions for my spouse’s favorite vegetarian entree — Spinach, Fennel, & White Bean Gratin…
And — in about 5 seconds — it blended the dough for these easy-peasy, lemon-infused Blueberry Bars.
Already own a working food processor? Enter this giveaway anyway. The gadget will make a terrific gift for someone who is just learning to cook.
Rules for Entry
For a chance to win a brand new, 7-cup capacity Cuisinart Food Processor, just leave a comment below. You can say anything you like. Can’t think of anything to say?
Quote something from Mae West. Or Dorothy Parker. Or Quentin Crisp.Only one comment per person, please.
As always, I’ll use the little number generator at Random (dot) org to select a winner. The winner’s name will be announced on Thursday, August 1, 2013, so be sure to check back!

The first thing I’d make is the chive pesto. We do have a food processor, but 1) it need repair work, and 2) it’s packed somewhere in the mountain of kitchen boxes from our last move. We moved into my husband’s family home which already had 30 years of furnishings, so we’re very slowly deciding what to keep and what to unpack. Except for the food processor, we probably have 2 or 3 of everything.

Many of the previous commenters are trying to butter you up with “Happy Anniversary” and compliments about your fabulous recipes, many of which I have made myself. That is all great, but the facts are that I was compelled to give away my wedding gift food processor because it was HUGE and did not fit on my countertop which meant I had to store it in my tight pantry and haul it out each time a recipe called for it. Plus I cut my finger on the slicer round thing removing it for cleaning. Plus even though it cut my finger easily and deeply, it could not manage to julienne carrots worth beans. Plus one of the parts had to be whittled a bit to fit; obiously whittling is not my cup of tea or I would not have cut myself on the slicer part trying to separate it. To summarize, I do wish you and your love Happy Anniversary, but I am counting on my own personal randomness to become one with your random generator in this giveaway so that I can set up this beautiful machine which apperas about a third of the size of the digit-slicer I gave away. O:-)

Thanks for the petunia tip. For some reason (some) people group flowers into categories. Easy to grow flowers that are nearly ubiquitous are somehow lacking in class, Impatiens and petunias and , and, and . . . I think a healthy and lush bed of “boring” flowers beats out a spindly and sickly special something splendid hands down. I’d LOVE to have winter petunias. A giveaway food processor would not make me as happy as purple petunias in February but it still would be very nice,

Love never fails! Happy anniversary !
The art of graciously receiving unexpected guests, and the prior preparation for such, is passing. I long for the days when time was regularly carved out to prepare some small little dessert, to serve the visitor on Sunday, or the teenager’s companion, as they rush in after school. This processor may give some the courage to invite an acquaintance to stop by, because they know there is something prepared to serve when he or she arrives. Tea never hurts either!

hi kevin …I just made your English cream scones for the first time…. I am at one mile high altitude, so I did what I always do when baking scones, …increased the heat (I used 475 degrees, and yes the parchment paper was okay) and i decreased the baking powder, for high elevation baking …. anyway, i don’t have a food processor, so i used my pastry cutter …i live in Nevada, and so its hot here too …i got up at 1am, because its the only time of the day when its cool enough to have the oven on, especially at that temperature … “cream tea” is special to me because its the last thing that my mom and i got to do together, a tour around cornwall and devon …..as soon as we got home to the USA, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer … the only bad thing that occurred while we were on the tour was that 9/11 happened … we were standing at Stonehenge when our bus driver told us that 9/11 had just happened … my mothers mother had been from the Lands End area, and so our visit to the UK was a sort of pilgrimage, and then 9/11 happened …well we still got to enjoy the cream teas everyday, and we had proper afternoon tea in the pump room at the Roman Baths in Bath.. anyway, i love your Royal Albert Moonlight Roses …i too am into English bone china, (I have summertime roses, Royal Patrician) .. because of your newsletter, i bought a mandolin slicer for the cucumbers, and a Pullman pan for baking my own sandwich bread ….and I have been making my own clotted cream in the slow cooker….its very very easy, if you can get unpasteurized heavy cream ..(I cant, so i use meadowgold “old style” heavy whipping cream) ..the slow cooker does the work, and it tastes so much better than the jarred clotted cream, if you can make your own …. anyway, my mother died from ovarian cancer in the month of July, so as a tribute to her, every July I teach myself something new about afternoon tea …this July, I taught myself how to bake your lovely English cream scones, and slow cooker clotted cream … bebe croteau cross

Love the blog because of the gardening inside and outside plus the house and food! Such a great idea of bring the petunias indoors for the winter even though I don’t have much problem with that as I have old fashioned petunias that use to grow in my Grandmother’s yard . . . they reseed themselved and I’ve had petunias blooming on Christmas Day before, they are wonderful and their perfume is just devine. Carmen Barfield says
Kevin,
I stumbled upon your blog in my sweepstakes site and found it pretty and interesting. Happy Anniversary by the way. Nothing like a best friend for a mate. I was entering because my food processor is over 25 years old and on its way to the scrap heap soon. It still will shred potatoes and onions for my hash brown fries my husband has become addicted to, but that is about its range for power. I tried to julienne some carrots the other day and the motor slipped on a stuck carrot. That is pretty bad. I am attached to my little machine, but they don’t make them anymore. I thought I could get a new one just like it and call it the son or daughter, but no such luck. I will be sad to see it go. Loving your site and hoping to hear about new recipes and happenings in your life.
