Driving to The Berry Farm

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | March 15, 2020 12 Comments

Last week, just for fun, I filmed my drive to The Berry Farm in Chatham, New York. Wanna see what Route 203 looks like on a sunny March morning? Ride with me:

I hope my driving didn’t make you dizzy. And if you’d like me to film the numerous greenhouses that provide all the herbs and lettuce greens for The Berry Farm, then by all means speak up! I’ll speak with the owner of the joint. xKevin

Thanks for the ride, Kevin. Loved the countryside. I bet it is beautiful in the spring when the leaves come out. Will watch out for the next video. I just bought a bunch of Italian parsley so I’m in. Love your video. xoxo

loved the drive! Thanks for sharing this, as you were driving, i could imagine the fields full of corn, and grass and trees all in bloom. The Rosemary smells so nice when fresh this way! . I wish we could buy it here in bags like this. Anyhow on to the next video! Thank you again. Lise

Thanks Kevin, that was a fun outing. Some tours & interviews with your local farmers and historic home owners could be interesting, I think. Although 6 foot distancing will be required… OIY

I used to live in Kinderhook and then Chatham for a couple years! The Berry Farm was my ultimate favorite place to go to get food and wander in their greenhouses! The owner is very nice and welcoming! Thanks for the memory lane.. The rolling hills of Columbia county are so pretty.

I just bought some rosemary plants to plant here in NW Florida. They grow all over here – into large bushes. I think you need a greenhouse – have you considered building one?

Hi Kevin – Love your videos!!! I love watching them, all my favorite things – pets, gardens and decorating. I used to live in Chatham NJ and I went to school with a girl from
    Chatham NY. So many Chathams.
The rosemary looks amazing. I’d love to see the greenhouses.

Keep em coming! You are the light in my mundane days these days – especially with the virus spreading all over the place.

And thanks for posting the recipes too!

    Keep Smiling –
    Dorothy

What a fun trip down memory lane! Many years ago I was a docent at both the Vanderpoel and the Van Alen houses and for several years the cook at Powell House, a Quaker retreat center in Old Chatham. I loved it there! In these days of stay at home quarantine it was lovely to take a drive with you, thank you.

I’m letting you know that your Fried Rosemary Garbanzo Pasta was a great hit last night. We live in Portland Oregon and have a fairly large garden with loads of Rosemary and parsley year round.
I did add a few extras as I had mushrooms and 2 small zucchini’s that needed to be used so I chopped them up with minced garlic ( I was out of garlic paste!) and sautéed them separately. This was such I good recipe and will be adding it to my repertoire of family favorites. Thank you Kevin.
