Do you remember the frail feral kitten we recently rescued? She’s come a long way, baby! Watch Binky purr and play in my latest vlog:
Thanks for watching! As mentioned in the video, I’m grateful for the words of encouragement you sent after I first introduced you to Binky. Caring for a sick kitty is a lot of work, but we refuse to complain. We are just happy to give Binky the love, attention, and stable home she deserves. xKevin

Love this! Thank you. We’re pet-less at the moment, so I’m living vicariously through you and Binky.
Jeane says
She looks so much better! Sooo cute. And funny how she really likes that little red toy.
Amy says
Kevin, you and Binky are the joy tonic we all need right now, I think! I literally laughed and clapped when she knocked over her red toy.
Thank you to Mr. Fox and yourself for taking this sweet angel into your hearts and giving her such a wonderful home (she’s hit the life jackpot!)

I watched this update w my daughter. She says “I’m glad that she’s not really sick anymore. I liked the video.” I was so happy to see that Binky made such marked improvements! Such wonderful news! I think we all understand that lighted put on hold when there is a little life to take care of. If you decide to get a cat post/climber for her, don’t be fooled by by the short ones! Cats like to perch HIGH. The higher the better. Thank you for rescuing Binky. Any news on her mother? And thank you for sharing your journey w Binky! Stay well!

Oh, Kevin, happy, happy, joy, joy !!! Binky is a very lucky kitty to have you and y’all are awesome to have rescued her! She will love you dearly all her life 🙂

What a nice start to our Sunday morning!! We indeed watched to the end.
Sarah says
Kevin – Binky is just adorable! Thank you for rescuing her & for giving her such a good home!
Based on what Binky’s playing with, I wanted to pass along a couple of “toy” suggestions our cats have loved over the years. Two of the most loved are small balls of crumpled paper (newsprint/newspaper & magazine pages work really well) &, our most recent discovery, wine corks! One of current cats, Admin (because he’s in charge) loves them, both for batting/throwing/chasing & for chewing.
Barbara says
Thank you for sharing . Binky is thriving and has found a loving and caring home. I know it took a lot of time and dedication to nurse her back to health, but you have been rewarded . Is her mother still outside your home?
Mary says
A new house kitten is a wonderful thing!
Sarah Horton says
How very precious Binky is! She looks happy and well loved. We have several cats who were rescued kittens. Caring for them aa kittens was a lot of work but they are such fun and are amazing companions. Life without them would be very dull. Hope Binky continues to thrive and equally blesses your family!
Marie Seaman says
It’s amazing to see the difference that some TLC has made in Binky’s life! Thanks for taking care of her and for sharing her growth and development with us! What is happening with her mother?

O my goodness, so wonderful to see such a healthy kitty. She is full of life and energy thanks to your loving care. Welcome home Binky! Enjoy her Kevin and she will always be close to you for giving her the love and care you have.
Laura says
So comforting to watch the latest video. She’s doing so well, and you’re obviously enjoying it all too. I’ve had a number of cats, including a mostly feral one. Just a warning that a few liked to chomp through wires, so keep an eye on the heating pad cord.
Jean says
She’s adorable. So happy to hear she is better. Thank you for sharing! Lucky Binky. ❤️

You bet I watched Binky’s latest video right to the end, Kevin!

I have been cat-less for several years now. With the arrival of Covid-19, I thought about adopting, however, once this pandemic is over, I will be on the fly again. Like, Corrie, I am living vicariously through you also.
Gone is the lethargic little Binky. All the care and love she is receiving has worked wonders. She is beautiful.
Thank you for keeping us up-to-date!
Molly says
My favorite cat of mine was Oliver who came to me under similar circumstances. He ended up thriving and living a wonderful long life. God bless you for rescuing Binky. And thank you for the heartwarming update.

I worried about Binky all week and couldn’t wait for your update-
What loving care you two must have showereed on her in the last weeks to get her to this milestone! Enjoy her kittenhood and continued good health which is a tribute to your devotion!!! Beautiful story and I did watch to the end. Please continue updates.
Sandra says
Such a positive and wonderful update on Binkey. She is doing so well and her eyes are very clear. You are the best cat mom in the world. I was thinking about her during the week and so glad things are looking up for the little girl. Thanks for posting the greatest cat video. I just love it. xo
Debra says
I don’t know what it is with that spiral toy, but all my foster kittens have LOVED them, and its still my 3 year old ‘foster failure’s’ favorite toy. I recycled spirals from old conference material…he really likes those because they’re long and squiggly! Try a plastic bottle cap or pen cap when she gets a little bigger. Kudos on recovering Bink…all the hard work of those frequent hand feedings was worth it when you watch her play or when she’s sleeping snuggled on your shoulder, right!?!
Robin says
Wow, such an incredible transformation! What a lucky kitten to be in your care. She is obviously as smitten with you as you are with her. Thank you for the update and for your kindness on behalf this little being. I think we were all holding our breath a little there. Lovely to see her thrive. May you have many years of joy ahead! Xoxo.
Mary V says
So happy to see Binky’s improvement. She is a lucky kitty to have you both as caregivers, not owners because we know who really owns who. We are just here for them . Keep us posted.

What a difference in Binky! ❤️ Lucky kitty has a great family now.
Lois says
Wow! (and I DID watch the entire video!) What wonderful, amazing progress she has made with your loving care! Running through my head while watching was the old Carpenters’ song, “Bless the Beasts and the Children.” You certainly lit the way for Binky when things looked very dark for her, indeed.
Pam says
I’m so touched by your kindness!
Love and God Bless!
Diane Hinkle says
Thank you for saving her! You will be rewarded many times over with the love she will show you. My rescued cat will be 20 years old in September. We have shared a lot of love and fun and expect to for a while more.
Lori says
Great job, your hard work and sleepless nights paid off! One thing cats love is catnip. A toy with catnip stuffed inside can get them wound up. They get really playful but in turn can end with great snuggle moments. It’s hard to believe that 3 months ago, I was in the same boat as you and now Otis is living outside with the rest of the boys. Soon, he’ll go in to get fixed and caught up on shots. It’s nice to know Gerber baby food is good for them bc canned cat food doesn’t always look attractive or smell good. I’ll be sure to grab a few jars for cat treats, Not only for Otis, but for Alvin and Simon too!
Cathie Wagner says
All week I was eager for Sunday to come to find out how Binky was. First thing upon rising I checked my email and watched the video. No need to apologize for it’s length……..I could have watched Binky play for much longer. My first love is animals …..cruelly, I am allergic to the dander of many creatures. So I, too, vicariously enjoy your pets as we can not have any.
God bless you and Mr Fox for all the good you do in this hurting world

Janet says
Thank you for the update on Binky. So happy she is doing so well under your loving and patient care! She is adorable. Any luck trying to trap and spay her mom? I worry about that poor little thing.
Elizabeth King says
Binky is looking beautiful. She really is a sweetie & so lucky that you found her & are taking such excellent care of her.
GinaG says
Hi Kevin! Binky is absolutely adorable and it’s obvious that she is back to good health. We have two rescue cats (siblings same litter) and I thought I would share with you a couple homemade toys that they love. If you take some aluminum foil and clump it into a 2” ball, she will batt and chase that around everywhere, cats love aluminum foil because it’s shiny. We also have a Nerf gun that my son plays with, and it shoots little yellow 1” foam balls. One of our cats actually has been taught to fetch those balls, and she is obsessed with it. We just throw one ball at a time down our stairs and she brings each and every one up to us to do it again. If you can get Binky to do this, it’s a hoot and it’s also great exercise for the cat as she gets older!
Susan says
Good Morning to you and all your wonderful followers. I must confess going straight to the “The Binky Update” to see how Binky had fared over the week. She is on her way to becoming a friend for life. Many thanks for your kindness. NOW, on to the recipe of the week!
Mary says
Yay! What a pleasure! Thank you for sharing this!
Amy says
Wow! It’s hard to believe that’s the same kitten! Isn’t it amazing what a little (lot) of TLC will do! She’s beautiful!
Kay Bowen says
Binky’s so lucky. Thanks for posting this.

Is this time we are living in, how nice it is to see someone with a big heart – big enough to take in a sick kitty and care for her and love her as you are doing. Thanks for sharing the video. I have 5 kitties (4 were feral and 1 was a stray) and though they were a lot of work – they bring a lot of joy.
Reenie says
So happy to see the update on Binky! Glad to know she is doing well, she is a real cutie!
Suzanne K says
Thank YOU for my Sunday morning smile and good news! I’m so very thrilled that Binkie is doing so well – kittens are definitely smile-worthy, especially playing and/or cuddling/purring kittens! I was so concerned when I read your initial post that I didn’t watch the first video (I didn’t want to be more heartbroken in case Binkie didn’t respond to your awesome care). I watched this one to the end and may watch again just for another warm fuzzy smile!
As another poster mentioned, I’ve been fur-less for several years and the pandemic quarantine definitely has me thinking about getting a cat from a rescue, but I feel like that would be admitting that I won’t ever be able to travel freely and return to my previous life. I also debate fostering, but am sure that I’d turn into a foster failure… Oh well, I’ll enjoy your Binkie videos in the meantime for my kitten fix!
Thank you (and Mr. Fox) again for your hard work and boundless love that is giving Binkie the will and means to thrive!
Christine says
Such good news!
Nilli says
What a solid new beginning for kitty. Beautiful to watch.
BETTI FLETCHER says
The video was great and never too long. I would have watched it to the end even if it was longer. You are doing a great job and Binky is a very lucky girl. I brought in a stray and her 4 kittens a year or so ago and it is a lot of work but well worth it. Mine were all fixed including mom and 3 found great homes and I kept one inside with me. Mom prefers to be outside most of the time.
I look forward to more updates on Binky’s progress. You and Mr. Fox are wonderful people. I love all you garden and recipe posts also.
Charlotte Rinehart says
Thank you for Binky’s video. Love the whole video. You have saved the life of an innocent animal and you will be rewarded over and over with the love and devotion of that little doll! It is a pleasure to watch her progress and the video is just right in length. Your happiness is contagious!
Joanne in Zone 6b says
I also wondered all week how Binky was doing and am so thrilled to see her thriving! I will watch the video all the way through a few more times this week, I am sure. Never too much Binky!
You always spread joy, Kevin, and Binky is another lovely manifestation of that. I hope you are able to give us another video update next week. Blessings to you and your house.
Karen Lyons says
Oh! This made me so HaPPy! It took tremendous perseverance from you and Mr. Fox to get Binky through this! Congratulations to you all.
Brenda Brockett says
In our world of such divide and hate, it is good to see compassion and love in action anywhere it exists.
Oh, Kevin, thank you for showing a playful, bright eyed and loving little Binky. Is there a better way to give of our love and compassion than saving a little life? NO. They steal our hearts immediately! They are worth every vet trip, full time care and play time.
Being the cat lover I am (five cats over 49 years-Tigger, Tabitha, Katinka, Georgiegirl and Gracie Belle, I know the unconditional love they pour onto our being when they are given such loving care and attention. ( The lap time and brushing time remains part of the daily snuggle times regardless of their age. -zen time!)
On behalf of our two recent feral cats, Georgiegirl and Gracie Belle, thank you both for giving Binky a chance to thrive in a safe, loving home.
We found that not only paper balls or aluminum balls are great toys, but as she gets older and stronger empty paper bags will be one of her favorite toys to play hide and seek in. They love chasing the red light from the mouse pointer and jumping to catch the ‘birdie’ on the feather fly. (Our cats are indoor only with screened in porch time-all day now!) Savor the moments and take lots of videos and photos.
(No, the video was not too long, but this post probably is!) Happy happy moments…
Anne says
You and Binky are rays of sunshine! Thank you for making my day!
marsha says
Oh how WONDERFUL! Binkie looks so healthy now & is certainly alert & loving to play! I’ve had cats nearly all my life. They can hardly resist playing in paper bags & they love boxes. Roll up a ball of tinfoil just a little loosely so it makes a little noise when rolling around the floor. Be sure its big enough she can’t swallow it.nMy kitties loved that. A ping pong ball is great fun too! Congratulations on getting a wonderful kitty who will love you to pieces!
Deb says
She is soooo adorable! Thank you so much for taking her in and nursing her to health. She looks so much healthier and so happy! Please keep up updated on her progress!
Jennifer M LAMBERT says
I’m so happy to see that Binky is doing so well. All the love your giving her warms my heart. Your such good guys to take her in and give her all that love.

God bless you for saving her, changing her world, and giving her an amazing home! She’s absolutely adorable, and will bring you so much joy, as you will bring her. Thank you so much for sharing with us : )
Debby says
You’ve made my week. Thank you!
Marcy MacDonald says
She is adorable, and you are a wonderful person, for taking such good care of her. I watched the whole video and it was so cute. I am a dog person, but this little kitten would be welcomed in my home.
Maraya says
The catification of CUTE! So glad she’s doing so well, thanks to *you* Kevin. My cat loves mostly non-store-bought toys (see below), except for his soft little mouse that gets stuffed with catnip. That’s his favorite!
•The last few plastic bendy straws before I switched to paper
•The plastic ring thingies you pull from a milk carton to open it
•As mentioned by others: ping pong and foil balls
•Scratching post (very important!)
•Any cardboard box, from single ply small through large corrugated
•Paper bag
Be cautious with strings and yarn. Never leave them where kitty can swallow them. Also, I personally oppose using fingers as playthings. I try to train my cats never to attack anyone’s body parts.
Keep up the GREAT work, Kevin. Look at all the love you’re receiving because you give so much love!
Jacqueline Guest says
Hi Kevin et al,
Thanks for the Binky update. I’d say your good karma quotient is secure. Well done!
Is the Binkster your only pet now?
Janet says
I watched the video to the very end with a smile, still smiling. She’s precious and thriving. You and Mr. Fox are doing a fantastic job with her. Looking forward to the next update.
Love you
Jane Howe says
What a cutie! I’m wondering what color bowl you feed her in?
Honeybee says
The video was great and just the right length. So glad to see Binky playing like a kitten should. She is a very lucky girl.
Susan says
Thank you so much for the update. As others said, Binky looks heaps better and it’s such a lift to see. xoxo
Jane says
Thank you for the update! Binky looks so much better. She is so lucky to have made it Mr. Fox’s and your yard! We have a yard that seems to attract feral and strays. Everyone that we were able to capture and provide a home for has made a permanent footprint on our hearts. I can see that Binky has already accomplished that! These updates are such a good news story – thank you.
Jessica Graves says
Both of you are doing a great job! A toy you might want to try, take a piece of paper and roll it up in a ball and toss it for Binky. My 10 week old kitten goes crazy for them. Also let her get accustomed to the sound of you rolling it between your hands. Love her name! She is thriving beautifully! You and your spouse are doing an awesome job. I loved watching every second of your video with her. She is so cute!
Jessica Graves says
Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Barbara McIntyre says
Are you managing to get any work done around the house? Time flies when playing with a kitten or puppy. Enjoy and job well done.
Beverly says
This just made my day, and yes, I watched the video to the end smiling the whole time. Binky looks great and thank you so much for the update. We’ve adopted many kitties (dogs and horses!) over the years and it has brought us much joy (and hard work worth every minute). Take care!
beth folkomer says
I don’t know if anyone suggested, but my cats love the laser pointer. Our hallway becomes a speedway as they zoom down the hall and back.
Mickeyc says
Binky is toooo adorable. You are so kind to take such great care of her. A word of caution tho’, sometimes, kittens and …my cat….love to chew on electric cords, so be careful. Also…I hope not, but it looks like she might have a little infection in her right eye. It looks a bit irritated and it is smaller than the other eye. I hope I’m wrong! Thank you for the video, I watched ALL of it. PS, I love her name.
Valerie C. says
Great news! I watched the entire video and loved it all. Give Binky a pet from me.
Mojave Moon says
Kevin,
Love in action! Just perfect for a Sunday morning, or ANY morning, actually. Looks like you’ve got a pal for life! I was filled with warm fuzzies as I watched your video. Thanks.
Barbara says
This is so wonderful! What an amazing change from the last video! She is in such good hands 🙂 I am getting a kitten in just a few weeks, and she looks very much like Binky. I am looking forward to starting the journey and following along with yours!

Kevin your video about binky is adorable… may God bless you and mr fox… good to share live and caring on the internet.. I laughed to see the first part where binky is out of view on and off … hilarious… now I’ll watch the play part. Then I’m going to look at your recipes for any vegan ones as that helps me with psoriasis and to deter cancer recurrence..
I LOVE hearing binky purr….could be a recording for online pet therapy…
Su says
Ps hi kevin… one word of caution… cover the chord to the heating pad… she cant tell the difference between playing with strings and chewing on the heating pad electric chord.. her teeth are needle sharp… I know youd want to avoid that catastrophe… happens more with puppies… my own pet rat electrocuted herself (and survived ) chewing on electric chord..
I dont know why “pesty” survived that as most dogs get a totally charred mouth and severe burns in the mouth… plusshock or death…maybe put a small heavier carpet runner or yoga mat or large towel, over most of the chord and a towel over the ends( or wrap a face cloth around each end so the face cloth wrapped around the ends is thicker than the length of her teeth…and tape it on with masking tape) where the electric chord is closer to the actual heating pad and wall.
You can see in your video when she first starts to play that she bites the white electric chord, assuming it’s a play rope, but then goes back to what’s moving….
Kittens are notoriously hyper and silly so even though shes not attracted to the electric chord when distracted by moving toys and string, she may ” attack it” and chew it while you are out… sorry to belabor the point.. hope its helpful… look around for other chords in the house or shut doors to spare rooms…
Billie Stanton says
OMG, she is the cutest — and YOU are the BEST! You might put an empty cardboard box in the mud room. I don’t know why cats love them so, but they do.
Deb says
She’s so happy! You guys have done a fabulous job! It’s not easy taking on a kitten at that tender age-a lot of time and energy. In regards to the electrical cord (sorry, don’t mean to harp on the issue), I went to a big-box home store and got some flexible sheathing. Just slit it up one side and slipped it over the cord. Not something you’d normally consider, but…babies! Love to you all!
Janice says
Good work, she is lovely! I watched the whole video!
Jean Shepherd says
Oh Kevin! How can you keep up with these loving emails?!
I was so happy to see “Binky: Chapter 2” today! You are doing an incredible job with this baby.
I noticed the yellow spring for Binky…I buy these fat springs from Chewy by the pack. My babies are about to turn 4 this year. These are their FAVORITE toys. Early on, when I said “FETCH” and tossed these down the hall..across the room..they learned to run like crazy to get them. Now, they bring them back to my hand or foot for a “repeat”. I so recommend these.. we like the “fat” springs like your picture. The “skinny” ones..not so much.
Keep sending your Binky updates..I await chapter 3! Love to you, Binky, and Mr. Fox! Binky is SO fortunate!
patrice caden says
thanks for the update Kevin. Binky looks so much better now. So adorable. She’s found a wonderful new home

Binky has thrived. I’d suggest organic baby food. Keep enjoying her kitten growth.

Excellent video! Motherhood is a fulltime job, right? 😉 Good results, though. Miss Binky looks happy and is certainly active.
Daily brushing, start young so she learns to enjoy it.
My neighbor is training his kitten to a harness and leash. Much harder to train an adult cat.
Thanks for the update. 🙂

Thanks for the wonderful update. Please keep us posted as she continues to grow and thrive. Great job-a very lucky kitten. I watched the whole video-loved it.

YAYAYAYAY for Binky…. Blessings on you and Mr. Fox. for rescuing her. So much joy!
Barbara Baldus says
Oh, she’s doing so great! You should be a very proud papa. Blessings for you and the whole family.
Kathy Phillips says
Thanks for the update on your adorable little girl. She reminds me so much of all of the orphan kittens I fostered for a local organization. She looks like the one I named Daisy and she was so sick when I got her but within a few days she was doing wonderfully. When they are hand raised like she is, they have such an amazing bond with you. I would always take the little foster kittens and place them on my chest under my shirt for skin/warmth contact and they would sleep and purr for hours. One of my fondest memories was when they would be around to feeding time and would crawl up my pants when I would stand in the kitchen preparing their food. Make sure you are wearing thick jeans or you’ll end up with lots of snags in your pants and scratches on your legs! Bless you both for taking in this little angel and giving her so much love and care.
Karen Turley says
Binky is doing great. You have done a great job with her. She’s not 100 % but getting there. God bless your heart. I hope mom is doing ok as well. I sure understand that is a tougher job. But this kitty is doing very well. I love all your interventions.
Sandra L Barton says
Kevin: Worried all week about Binky! So glad for the happy update! Kudo’s to your Vet & to you and Mr. Fox! Good advice from others regarding the electric cord. And also supervise the string play as kitties are famous for wrapping string around themselves! So delighted to see your kitty so much improved! Hugs!
Donna Benevides says
I rescued a feral kitten once. The first time he licked cream cheese off my finger was when he started trusting me and let me scratch his chin. It was awesome for him to trust me, when he was so afraid of everything. Thank you for sharing this and good luck. It’s not easy to earn the trust of a cat. Hugs.
Adrian says
Just wondering about Binky’s mama- is she still in your yard. I feel so sorry for the abandoned ones.

Kevin,
Bless you. I’ve rescued kittens myself and they reward you for years. I laugh when you say her cage is open so she has free reign. I think she has free reign of your heart and in a short time she will have you perfectly trained. She is so precious. Also happy so many warned you about electrical cords. Loved the video, makes me smile. Good night to you and Binky.
lise says
this has been the most endearing rescue i’ve ever seen, especially when you kevin had to get up and feed the kitten every 3 hrs. No wonder Binky is doing better. I’m the one that sent you the picture of the foster “butternut”
kitten (who ended up actually keeping the name ;o) and watching your Binky doing well on t.v. So so sweet! ) thought i’d drop a line, thinking of Binky tonite. I am sure that she ?? will be pulling through. You’ve made a hit in our home, as well as our friend’s home that sent the picture of Butternut to us. Take care and hope that Binky is well! as well as you!!!

The vet gave Binky a 50/50 chance???? Clearly the vet did not know you very well. Thanks for sharing the story.
Celia says
So glad to see Bink is happy and healthy and having a good life. Last week I was worried she might not get enough calories and not make it. Whew! The last 2 rescue kittens we took on I also used to put on my shoulder. A brother/sister were named “Chunky Monkey and Cherry Garcia”. Fast forward several years and Cherry is a petite little missy and Monkey is the length of a Maincoon and still loves to hop up and perch there for a cuddle and a walk about.

Please keep us posted on Binky’s progress

Kevin…so, just returned from Greece and Turkey on 10/12/23. Hundreds and hundreds of “free cats” in both countries. That’s what they’re called: “free cats.” NOT feral/wild cats, like here in the US. Everyone — and I mean EVERYONE — feeds, pets, waters, provides boxes/housing for the cats. The ones that you see are well-fed, lying overtly in the streets/sidewalks, regularly petted by “strangers” who saunter by. Dogs, the same. But one doesn’t see as many “free” dogs as cats. but the ktties: oh! the myriad of kitties!!!
