Happy Holidays from a Motley Crew

BY Kevin Lee Jacobs | December 23, 2011 24 Comments

I wanted to send this out much, much earlier, but thanks to Time Warner, I had no internet connection until just now. Anyway, all of us — 147 houseplants (including the purple African violets that serve decorative-duty in the dining room here each Christmas, as above), Gerta the snake, an assortment of frogs, toads and birds, and, of course, me — would like to wish you all the happiest of holidays. You are the best friends that any gardening- and cooking-blogger could possibly have. Let’s toast each other with a glass of spiked eggnog, okay? Clink!

You are my favorite blogger. In fact, I’m serving your french onion soup and your caramelized butternut squash soup for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals. I wish the very best for you and yours!

My husband and I toast you as the Bacchanalian Beef Stew is simmering, the scallops are awaiting their Assigo and the Figgy Pudding is ready for the steam bath. Thank you for inspiring us to a day of cooking, drinking and holiday cheer!

Your cinnamon rolls for breakfast! New Tradition for Next Generation is Born!!! Delicious!!@#

I hope you have some idea how precious this is to me, and to all of us. I think you can imagine we are a very sentimental clan. Reviving Grandma’s cinnamon rolls with Kevin’s delightful smile is lovely to us! Psst.. you were mentioned many times during the day. Thank you again. Merry Christmas!!!

Kevin, I’m guessing w/ all of your spectacular advice that you were thought of /discussed by all of your readers over the holiday. For me it was when my husband noted that this year’s poinsettia actually made it to Christmas: “Yep, I have Kevin to thank for that.” And on Christmas eve I took an african violet as a hostess gift to my husband’s aunt. It turned out she is an av lover. I told her all about your blog and we discussed your “space-age” violet (which I find extremely intriuging).

Thanks for the lovely gifts you give us all year. You really do brighten others lives. Keep on celebrating!!
