Pinch me, please. Bebe Neuwirth is coming to my house on June 23. She’ll give an intimate performance in the music room to benefit PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support). You see, Bebe is not only an amazing actress (“Cheers,” “Frasier,” “The Good Wife,” “Madame Secretary,” etc., etc.) and singer (she played Velma Kelly in the Broadway revival of “Chicago”) — she’s an animal advocate, too! How this event unfolded:
My friend Doug Cohen is the founder of PAWS. Doug’s husband, Barry Brown, is a Broadway musical producer. Together, Doug and Barry worked tirelessly for years to put together a fundraiser to support PAWS’ important mission: Provide task, financial, and informational assistance to pet owners living with HIV/AIDS to ensure that they are not separated from their animal companions when they need each other the most.
When Doug and Barry asked me if I’d be willing to make this house and my piano available for the event, I immediately said “Yes.” Organizations that help people and pets are the kinds of organizations that Mr. Fox and I regularly contribute to.
Live in New York’s Hudson Valley? Wanna meet and hear two-time Tony- and Emmy-Award winner Bebe Neuwirth? Then by all means contact PAWS via the Damien Center by clicking here.
Now please excuse me, because I have two important jobs to accomplish. First, I have to call the piano tuner. Then I must dust the music room!
