A friend in need is a friend indeed! Back in February, more than 300 of you offered your thoughts when I needed a new washing machine. Per your advice and reviews, I purchased a high-efficiency top-loader that works like a charm. Now I have another appliance that needs replacing. So tell me: What kind of automatic dishwasher do you own, and do you love it — or loathe it?
This is not my first time in the dishwasher rodeo. I purchased a hideously expensive Bosche for my Manhattan apartment. The machine not only cleaned dishes to a sparkling degree, but it was quiet to boot. We parted company when I sold the apartment and moved to an old Victorian house in Upstate New York.
My first machine in this old-new house was a medium-priced Whirlpool. It worked perfectly well for 5 years. Then it just up and died. So I replaced it with a more expensive Whirlpool, purchased from a local appliance store. This machine has been a disappointment from day one.
I complained to the seller, but he refused to replace the machine. He tinkered around with it, and proclaimed that “All parts are working.” Well, the parts might work, but the appliance simply does not clean dishes the way it should. I’d call the machine a POS, but that wouldn’t be very lady-like of me.
So what say you? Can you tell me about your own automatic dishwasher, and whether or not you’d recommend it? I’m a member of Consumer Reports, but their reviews and ratings are both overwhelming and confusing.
I’m all ears, folks. So please speak up in the comments field below.
